Label TextMade when Corson Day was an art student, this drawing includes a marble bust typical of those used for copying by fine artists and two posters reflecting the art of illustration. The poster for Harper's New Monthly Magazine features Edward Penfield's design for March of 1896. The Trilby poster advertises the magazine's 1894 serialization of George du Maurier's story Trilby, which featured the character of Svengali, seen mesmerizing a woman in the black and white drawing.
