Label TextPhilip was the only son Edward Burne-Jones. He was himself an artist, exhibiting regularly at the Royal Academy, and in 1900, at the Paris Salon. His work has been somewhat overshadowed by that of his father. Samuel Bancroft, whose collection of Pre-Raphaelite art forms the basis of the Museum’s holdings of British art, befriended Sir Philip (knighted 1894) and the artist visited his home in Wilmington on several occasions. This caricature was completed on a visit in 1902.
