Label TextKnown primarily as a painter and printmaker, Pierre Bonnard was also an illustrator, often designing for La Revue Blanche, the leading French art and literary magazine at the end of the 19th century.

Octave Mirbeau’s final novel, posthumously completed by Leon Werth, is named for its central character, the author's pet dog. Through tales about the dog, Mirabeau expressed his contempt for what he saw as the ignorance of much of French society.
