Label TextA post-World War I nostalgia for better times stimulated a revival of interest in both etching and the pastoral landscape. Badmin had a particular appreciation for trees as can be seen in this peaceful incarnation of rural life. The leafless hedges in the foreground and topmost branches of the elm trees in the middle ground create a delicate spidery pattern against the cloudless sky. Similarly rendered trees on the horizon carry the effect into the infinite distance. (msf)
