Label TextBeginning in 1961, Tice photographed the Amish and Mennonite communities of Pennsylvania as a visual record of their way of life. The use of a view camera permitted Tice to capture the depth of tonal gradation and detail of the places he photographed. Many of his photographs appeared in Fields of Peace: A Pennsylvania German Album, first published in 1970.
