Label TextDryden rejected her four years training in landscape painting in favor of her two loves, illustration and fashion design. From 1909 to 1922, she worked under contract for Vogue, frequently as a cover artist. Later she was an industrial designer. In the late 1930s, Studebaker ads proclaimed, "It's styled by Helen Dryden!" Fanciful characters like these masqueraders in costume reflected her experience as a theatrical costume designer.
