Label TextThe American Weekly was the Sunday supplement of the Hearst Corporation newspapers from about 1911 until the 1960s. Earl Cordrey worked in the 1940s and 1950s, and was known for fashion, advertising, and story illustrations. Here a woman happily anticipates buying a modern--though rather uncomfortable-looking chair--while her husband luxuriates in a traditional but comfortable one.
