Label TextThe painter Robert Henri and Dr. Charles Lee Reese were passengers on the S. S. Amsterdam which arrived in New York from Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, on September 24, 1894. Over the next four decades, Reese would develop an extraordinary print collection and serve as president of the board of trustees of the Delaware Art Museum. On board the ship, the artist gave Reese this sketch, likely made in Concarneau earlier in July.
