A fashion illustrator for The Ladies' Home Journal when she joined Howard Pyle's illustration classes in 1894, Elizabeth Shippen Green accepted an exclusive contract with Harper's Monthly Magazine in 1901. Harper's was at the forefront of high-quality color reproduction.
