Label TextAt one point in his career, when William H. D. Koerner still had to take all assignments to make a living, he lamented having to illustrate "pink tea stories," the fiction aimed at female readers. This scene is from such a romantic tale. A French-Canadian who has finally found work out West agrees to give French lessons to his boss's wife. Koerner captures a moment when--as the lady looks fetchingly at him--the man fears that her husband is approaching.
