Label TextBetween 1911 and 1916, Sloan produced several illustrations that focused on the exploitation of female workers, especially those active in the garment industry. This sketch of a man hitting or silencing a female worker, while he holds a newspaper that reads "vote of protest," may relate to similar labor issues.
