Label TextThe inscription below the drawing refers to the first lines of Robert Southey's poem, "The Battle of Blenheim." In the published version, however, the embarrassed young man recites from Clement Moore's "T'was the Night Before Christmas," not "The Battle of Blenheim." This may represent a change from the original manuscript, perhaps one made to align the story with the holiday theme of the issue.
