Label TextThis illustration accompanied a story typical of the Depression Era, when romance and finance came together in popular fiction. Our dancing protagonist Jake meets a pretty girl at a nightclub and they dance. When it comes time to stop for a drink, he remembers that he’s broke and goes to ask a friend for money, but while he’s gone, the young woman buys the drinks in thanks for him buying her a drink and being kind to her years ago when she first arrived in the city.
