Label TextBased on composition and inscriptions, these drawings appear to be designs for endpieces for The Century Magazine or for a book published by Scribner's. The artist produced many floral illustrations that decorated the magazine and books of poetry by her husband, Richard Watson Gilder, and others. Often horizontal in orientation and decorative in style, endpieces were inserted below articles or poems that did not fill a page. These small illustrations were rarely credited, making them difficult to identify.
