Label TextAlthough the finished work to which this drawing relates has not been identified, it may well be a preparatory sketch for one of the numerous stained glass window designs Burne-Jones drew for Morris & Co. commissions. The hands of the figure are clasped in a gesture that suggests prayer, while the sword around which his hands are clasped may denote an Old Testament saint or archangel.
