Label TextRobert Goodnough is considered one of the central figures of second generation Abstract Expressionism. Following studies at the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts, he became deeply involved in the informal association of artists known as the New York School, which included Jackson Pollock, Adolf Gottlieb, and Robert Motherwell, among many others. Goodnough related his signature clustered forms to dinosaur bones. He explained, “The bones were put together and became a dinosaur. I put these shapes together and they become an abstraction.”
