Label TextFred Becker joined the Graphic Arts Division of the Federal Art Project in New York City in 1935. The artist's lively and humorous characterizations of the jazz musicians he saw in New York nightclubs gave way to abstraction when the artist joined the newly-formed school and studio Atelier 17 in 1940.
