Label TextThis print is a trial proof produced by Sloan when he was still perfecting his skills as a printmaker. The poor quality paper, deep indentation around the edge of the plate, heavy ink, and scattered smears are typical of his working proofs, created as part of the process of etching, rather than as polished, final products.
