Label TextLouise Nevelson was influenced by Cubism and her time spent studying with the Abstract Expressionist painter, Hans Hofmann (1880–1966). Her unique style is characterized by an interest in geometric form; the assembly of found, wooden materials; and the creation of an environment through the installation of numerous, monochromatic sculptures. Rain Forest Column XX was included in the artist’s 1976 project in the international contemporary art exhibition, the Venice Biennale.
