Label TextThis print is from a portfolio published in 1992 to benefit The Alternative Museum (est. 1975) in New York. The Museum’s mission was “to facilitate a forum in which artists and the public can together challenge and explore new ideas toward a shared ideal of a more equitable society.” Luis Jiménez’s print does just that, using a quote from an 1826 letter penned by Thomas Jefferson to critique the notions of freedom and independence.
