Label TextIn this design Salomé examines the head of the Baptist as it is held up for her delectation from below by the extended arm of the executioner. She roughly grasps a lock of his hair as it mingles with the gruesome stream of blood dripping off the sides of the platter. The heavy mass of her black cloak contrasts with delicate details, like the tiny slipper behind her.
