Label TextThere is no evidence that this illustration by Arthur Becher was published. Angelo Patri's The Lonesome Place was a short allegory about enduring life's struggles and discovering self-reliance. It appeared in a magazine (unidentified) in 1924 with two illustrations by W. T. Benda. Becher and Benda may have been competitors for the commission.
