Label TextTarbell's Life of Abraham Lincoln appeared in installments in McClure's Magazine in 1895 through 1896 and in 1898 through 1899 and was published in book form in 1900. An important reconsideration of the President's background and beliefs, Tarbell's biography was based largely on the recollections of individuals who had known Lincoln. The series was a boon to circulation of McClure's.Augustus Saint-Gaudens
