Label TextA distinguished member of Russian Futurist circles, Burlyuk, or Burliuk as he often signed his name, experimented with several avant-garde styles before arriving in the United States in 1922. This work—with its rich color, extremely thick paint, and mottled surface—seems related to European Expressionist painting.
