Arlington Weithers
Date: Guyanese artist, born 1948
Biography: Arlington Weithers is an internationally known artist from Guyana, who had his first solo exhibition in 1973. The New York Times described his paintings as the "high points" of an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, citing the "gemlike colors and fissured textures" of his works. His career has taken him for study, exhibition and teaching to Maine, Texas, Alabama, Louisiana and Texas, as well as to England, Finland, and Central and South American countries.
