Biography: Lucioni was born in Malnate, Italy, and his family relocated to New York in 1911. Lucioni's mother did not like the large city, and they moved to several smaller towns before settling in Union City, New Jersey. Lucioni took drawing classes as a teenager and wa accepted at Cooper Union. He studied there while working at an engraving company in Brooklyn. He continued his study at the National Academy of Design, learning etching from William Auerbach-Levy. Lucioni's realist style and interest in the landscape helped to situate him as a Regionalist artist. He produced several prints for Associated American Artists and exhibited his highly detailed paintings nationally.
