John W. Gregory
Date: American printmaker and photographer, 1903–1992
Biography: Gregory was born in Brooklyn, New York, and studied at the Art Students League with John Sloan. In the early 1930s he moved to Provincetown, Massachusetts, and started a photography business, becoming well-known for his Cape Cod landscapes and portraits of the local people. In 1948 he had a solo show of his work at the Smithsonian Museum. (Biographical information from New England Art Exchange)
