About: This portrait of Elizabeth Siddal accentuates her thick red hair and pale skin tone. Red hair was a feature greatly admired by the Pre-Raphaelite painters. Siddal began sitting to Rossetti as a model around 1852. Under Rossetti’s tutelage she developed her own artistic skills. Several of her works are included in the Museum's Bancroft Collection.
