About: Bracquemond, who began his printmaking education as an apprentice to a lithographer in 1848, produced noteworthy etchings by the age of twenty. By the end of his career he had created over nine hundred prints, while receiving several awards including the Medal of Honor at the Salon of 1884. Braquemond is best remembered as the person primarily responsible for the revival of the "peintre-graveur" tradition (artist as printmaker) in the 19th century.
