About: This print is based on a 1964 collage from the series Prevalence of Ritual. Carroll Greene has described Bearden's sense of ritual as "the choreography of daily life." At first glance this appears to be a scene from daily experience--an image of two friends greeting. However, the brown form protruding from the back of the woman at left resembles an angel's wing, a correlation more apparent in the original collage, adding an element of religious imagery to this print.
