About: The caption refers jokingly to the drunken Scotsman in the foreground, who is about to greet his cousin, the captain of the large steamer in Gibraltar harbor. Having spent some years as a merchant seaman before studying illustration, Fischer was able to bring first hand knowledge to the nautical subjects which became his specialty. He illustrated stories about such seafaring characters as Tugboat Annie.
