About: In her portrait, Anna Walraven (1846–1927), a young Delaware girl, is holding a daguerreotype portrait of her family. Daguerreotypes are very early photographs, made on metal and kept in hinged cases. In the United States, daguerreotypes were widely available between 1845 and 1855, when the process was replaced by new technology.
