About: Born in Maryland, Otto Cushing studied at the Boston School of Fine Arts and in Paris. After he wprled as the art editor for the European edition of the Herald-Tribune, he joined the staff of Life in 1906. His drawings there often reflected a cynical eye toward social pretensions. He served in the Army during World War I. Upon his return, he devoted himself primaily to watercolor.
