About: After The Saturday Evening Post published her first cover in 1916, Neysa McMein's work became a regular feature until 1923. Magazine illustrators of the time had various approaches to the "cover girl." McMein's sophisticated young women were unusual in that they were never shown smiling. After 1923, she designed all the covers for McCall's Magazine until 1937.
