About: Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's gained fame for his posters depicting Parisian cabarets, theaters, dance halls, and brothels, scenes that he himself lived when he moved to the Montmartre district of Paris in 1885. He also illustrated theater programs, book covers, menus, and other ephemera. Here he suggests the lead character of Henri Bataille's play The Leper, a young woman whose deformed hands identify her disease.
