About: The Boston literary magazineThe Atlantic Monthly was slow to use advertising posters probably because it was the only magazine of its class produced without any illustrations. For this poster Hallowell gave Buddha a modern twist rendering the image in the nascent Art Deco style, also known as the Art Moderne style.
