Published in the magazine from 1884 to 1977, the series was then anthologized in four volumes titled Battles and Leaders of the Civil War. The anthology was expanded with more materials, numbering almost 3,000 pages.
This scene depicts struggles of the Union Army under General Alexander Webb, who won the Medal of Honor for his leadership at the Battle of Gettysburg.
