About: Taken at the Flood is narrated by a cynical lumberman working along the coast of British Columbia. He encounters an Englishman seeking to redeem himself from drinking by hard work. The latter becomes overwhelmed by the generosity of native peoples as they share their resources. Here, as a sign of his respect he has prepared a ceremonial feast for them and then resolves to devote his life to helping them.
