About: Joe Parrish was a cartoonist for the Chicago Tribune from 1936 to 1970. He created the Nature Notes cartoon series, which highlighted animals with texts describing unusual facts about the outdoors. He was recognized for his political cartoons, especially caricatures of political figures. The subject here is Benny Frey, a pitcher primarily for the Cincinnati Reds, who early in his career played for the Nashville club of the minor league Southern Association.
