About: Like many American painters, William Zorach was influenced by the latest movements in European modern art. Zorach may have derived his stylized and angular forms from Cubism and his intense color from Fauvism. In the teens, Zorach combined these influences with his own decorative sensibility to create elegant, modern compositions that retained recognizable figures and landscape elements.
