About: In May 1908, Arthur G. Dove lent Sloan his lithographic press while Dove traveled abroad. Sloan, who had experimented with lithography only once in 1905, worked with his friend Carl Moellman, a professional lithographer, to produce several lithographs that spring. This image, which Sloan described as "a girl of the streets," reflects the interest in city scenes that also marked his paintings in 1907 and 1908.
