About: A printmaker, illustrator, painter, and writer, Peggy Bacon was known for her humorous etchings and drawings, as well as for her caricatures of prominent personalities of the 1920s and 1930s. In her portrayal of New York Mayor Fiorello La Guardia, she brought to bear her artistic goal: “The aim of a caricature is to heighten and intensify to the point of absurdity all the subject's most striking attributes...imparting a spicy and clairvoyant comment upon the subject's peculiarities.”
