About: This scene captures the first moments of a couple's romance, which will be threatened by many reversals before they find their happy ending. Andrew Loomis's cinematic style -- here highlighted by glamorous characters and moody background -- created an immediate emotional impact, lending him success in story illustration and advertisements. He was also influential as an author of instructional books on illustration, in which he recommended that illustrators study the works of Howard Pyle.
